Hi I'm Roxanne Boyce I am a math teacher at the Ram Academy. I've always since I was little everybody's always ask me what do you want to be when you grow up and I've always wanted a teacher. I when I was first teaching on one of my students said what are you what did you want to be when you grow up and I said a teacher and they said l see you got your dream job and I would say I'm definitely at my dream job right now I love it it's wonderful. One of the things I hear most consistently from kids about Mrs Boyce's classroom is that they feel like it's a safe space. Obviously at an alternative school that's one of the main things we're trying to create here in the culture of the school so the fact they all can kind of her classroom is a place where they find that is that one of the things we value most. She adds so much to the fabric of the school and we are just incredibly lucky that she's here one of my favorite things is like when the students come over here they're defeated they're ready Dropout they don't want to be here at at school anymore and so getting that buy-in from them having them come and know that they're loved know that they're accepted first and foremost and then that they can do some of the hard things math class is not something that everybody loves so first make them feel welcome here and once they know that they're welcome they can ask questions they're not afraid to ask those questions so that they start to become successful in math they start to become successful in a life skills and then we start to find places that they can be successful post-graduation the students and the staff are incredible to work with here I hear stories about my students before they get here and I don't see that when they get here I think they feel loved and they feel welcomed once they get here and they start to recognize that we are one family once you join the ram Academy family like you don't leave you are part of our family we love all of our students here and I think that they feel that and they feel safe here I am Roxanne Boyce and I am in Owasso Ram!
